I apologize for the wait on the review, but college has just started, and you know that’s the scapegoat of any student XD. Anyways, today we look at a card from the new SNK set called White Magic, or as I call it, “the new Cocky”.
Like last review (Commitment to Excellence), White Magic has an effect so simple it requires no second thought. But…where the simplicity in its wording lies, there is much potential. The stats and effect of White Magic are: 1 difficulty, 5 control check, +3 Mid block, Air, Fire, Good. R Commit: After your opponent’s Combat Phase begins, add the top card of your deck to your momentum. Obviously, the key to this card is looking for cards that utilize momentum.
In today’s game, Air is a symbol that is pretty much set in terms of momentum gain. It has Whereabouts Unknown, Lord of the Makai, M.I.A., Achieving Your Goals, the list goes on even further. Fire and Good, on the other hand, are quite limited, especially in terms of “free” momentum generation.
My favorite use of this card is with Mark of the Beast, since Mark of the Beast shares all 3 symbols with it. Some other uses in this block include Jacky Tang, *Cody*, *K’*, *Talim*, Deceptive Look, Inhuman Strength, and of course, anything momentum-reliant.
This card, however, is best used in Block 3, where direct momentum generation is far and few, and as such, any symbol could use any help it could get. Adon, Anakaris, Guy, Iori, Nagase, Ryu, and Yoshitora all use the card pretty well. Most notably, though, is the ever-popular Feline Spike, which is rumored to be the most popular kill card in Block 3.
Well, Set 10 is out soon! Hope you guys have fun with it!
