Ah, the attack that pretty much cemented my like and dislike of Gill as Street Fighter 3's endboss. Once it hits, it's generally game over in that game, and while it doesn't enjoy the same power in UFS, it does, however throw one hefty monkey wrench in aggro's game plan. Not only that, but even on offense, it's still a whole truckload of damage for a truckload of difficulty. Since it's a character only, we only have to consider the only two published versions of Gill, but it's quite powerful in both, and you'll see exactly how if you read this particular Card of the Day feature.
As is now pretty much tradition in this feature, we'll look at the card's stats first and foremost. It's 8 difficulty for 3 control. 3 control is pretty much standard in decks, so that's good. 8 difficulty may pretty much make this never leave the binder, however. Especially if you're not playing Gill. It's 3 speed for 10 damage, as it should be for such a high difficulty (which is +1 if you are playing Gill 2). It's Stun : 3 and has the following static effect " While this card is in your card pool, all attacks get +1 difficulty. " I don't know about you, but I'm pretty glad this doesn't have Reversal. It also has the following effect : " E Discard 3 momentum: During your next End Phase, this attack is not cleared from your card pool. "
Wait... what?
" E Discard 3 momentum: During your next End Phase, this attack is not cleared from your card pool. "
So, you mean to tell me that this card can stay in the card pool to give attacks +1 difficulty even on the opponent's turn? Well, that's just gravy.
Whether you're playing *Gill* or **Gill**, there is absolutely no reason not to pack this attack in your deck. At a base 10 damage, with Gill 1, you can splash Good in it and Fight or Flight it for 20 damage. In Gill 2, a Life splash will allow you to use Unrequited Love AND Deceptive Look for amusing and often annoying results. The Stun : 3 is not something to scoff at and in fact, is rather unrivaled when it comes to character onlys. Of the top of top of my head, only Final Destruction is superior with Stun : 4. Plus, it's ability to make other attacks harder, even if you use it as a block, can be quite annoying for your opponent. Did I mention it's 10 damage? And Stun : 3? The difficulty can be a drawback, but in a well-built deck, it shouldn't even be a concern. Not only that, but Death and Order have very strong control pieces that mesh well with it's ability. Plus, at the cost of one Whereabouts Unknown, you make sure your opponent has more difficulty passing checks.
Final judgment? Play it. If you are playing Gill, any version of him, this attack will be a great addition to your deck, and while running four copies can be excessive due to it's high difficulty (it's rare that you'll pass more than one per turn, unless you have something to help with your control checks), running 2 or 3 is always a good idea. And anything to help you screw over Flowing Gale Hooks, even if it's an outdated card, is good.
And a move where you force the opponent to look at your crotch, making him cower in fear and pain, always gets a plus on the coolness factor.
