Another answer to Olcadan's
Mentor and Begin A New...
So how many times do people beg for more cards to answer Begin A New and Olcadan's Mentor. Just
like Blinding Rage we get another
foundation that disrupts board control and just like Blinding Rage it has a static effect.
So let's look at this card; it's a 1/6 foundation with a +1
high block truly amazing stats. It has
Fire, Order, and Air which shares 2 symbols with Blinding Rage to truly give Olcadan's
Mentor even more fits and making it harder and harder to use. So with the static text of: "If this foundation is destroyed due to your opponent's
card effect or this foundation's own effect, add 1 card from your opponent's
staging area to their momentum." This
will be a lot worse for the control decks not needing momentum and relying on
Concealed Swallow Swipe for the kill, rather than just destroying the card. In addition having the response to destroy
itself instead of one of your other foundations, makes Mentor null and void not only keeping the card you want and getting
an additional foundation but also getting rid of Mentor in the process. Even against Begin A New with them destroying all of the foundations in play and
trying to keep their assets like Olcadan's
Mentor, Addes Syndicate, and Seal of Cessation you can dump those
pesky assets into their momentum.
In conclusion I think a lot of us can see the potential for
this card to truly disrupt certain control decks and even if you don't
encounter the control decks the +1 high block is always good to see.
