Average user rating

4.2

out of 5

People originally thought that Ryu's Tatsumaki was a powerful card: wait till they get a load of this! The apprentice has one-up'd the master with Shunpu Kyaku, and if you can pull off the costs involved than it can inflict over 40 damage if fully unblocked!

Anyone who is willing to blow up ALL of their in-play foundations (make sure you use as many as you can first!) gets multiple Multiples, 5 to be percise. And Sakura, being the child prodigy that she is, takes that to the next level by giving each of her Multiple copies extra damage. The * version would allow you to add this attack to your hand for added abuse, but the promo Sakura lets you play this as a Reversal! Good game, sirs.

Well Shunpu hits for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12.... thats 42 total. 42=/=22 At any rate, Shunpu presents a risk, and it can pay off, but it almost need it's own deck to pull off the win. 5 Momentum with void is hard to pull of in void, and fire lacks any decent foundations to set up. By playing void/fire you have access to numerous throws, power up, and hop, not to mention the void trinity.

I'm not going to lie, this is a nuts win condition, and can easily win a game turn 3 with the right draws. Shad is correct in saying that one Symbol can not make it work on it's own. Fire gives Hop, and Void allows it to not get negated Via Control the Present and Voga Mastery, this cards 2nd worst enemy, right behind it's 1 check, that will cost you a turn or a game.

Though fun, I'm not a big fan of HOPing through hoops and attending winter funerals and perhaps some throwdown sessions to get the five momentum needed for the 'full effect' of this card's first ability. (nor does Water really have a ton of momentum gain either).

None-the less, its pretty cool, if you live long enough to get the five momentum. Probably not a 4 Xer in every deck that's trying this thing out (3 of these would probably do it all right).

Aside from already being a danger as a 1 check, this attack is definitely interesting in a Sakura deck. Multiple 5's that get tons of extra damage AND have a low zone tend to be good in my book. The problem is only Sakura would care to use this card, and she has more things to do than worry about a 1 check.

I have a friend with a couple of these in his Sakura deck, and with all of Sakura's "the difficulty of your next attack gets -X for each punch/copy in your card pool" abilities on her attack cards, it's really not too hard for him to pull Shunpu Kyaku off.

The only thing that can really save you against it is having tons of damage reducers that you haven't used on the previous four or five attacks, or enough Yoga Mastery foundations (and others) that he can't destroy and negate with Lost Memories or Impetuous or both. If you can negate it, you're set, since your opponent now has NO foundations, but it is hard as hell do against Lost Memories.

Must be cool to finish your opp with this, it's like a big Bang, everything blow up and your opponent get the tasteful amount of 42 Damage!!! Cool Card!
