Wait... is this a Card of the Day feature? What!? THIS CANNOT BE. Heh. Set 10 is now out, the meta has been hit with the banhammer, so what does that mean for cards nobody in their right mind would use anyway? Will they see play now that the biggest offenders in terms of Response negation (arguable, but the perception stays there) Life Gain and the decline of blocking are all out? That is a question I don't have an answer to. However, here's a question I DO have an answer to. What is this card? It's called Sickle of Sin and don't be fooled by the sexy Egyptian swinging his scythe in what seems, to me, a strange motion, this is actually a good card that will undoubtedly be affected by Addes Syndicate's banning in a negative way. What? Impossible, I hear you say. Addes Syndicate's banning was good for all cards! I'll invite you to read more and find out, obviously.

sf04_003_144_challenge_the_masterIt might just be me, but I think that if there is a single card that can showcase the change in mentality of UFS players as far as defeating your opponent goes, it's name is Challenge the Master. Which is a good thing since we'll be covering it today. Other than Adon kicking Sagat in the face (which is a pretty weird way to "challenge" someone, usually I kick them in the face AFTER I've challenged them. That's considering I kick people in the face. Which I don't. Even though there's video footage of me doing that exact thing.), what does that card do, and why is it the supposed proof of a change in mentality of UFS players? If you want to know, then read on.

sc03_077_144_onslaughtI would like to give a tiny reminder to everyone here - Rock 3 still exists until November. Did something happen to make him go the way of the dodo as far as competitive play is concerned? Most expect the following answer : He just wasn't competitive enough. This time, however, we'll take a trip back to February of last year, when Rock's support was released to an overwhelming "Meh." from the general meta, with perhaps the exception of Taking the Bait and Ultimate Volcano. We'll be looking at the giant mace sharing a name with a UK band and a Marvel Comics character. Hefty difficulty, poor control, and an effect you really have to wonder if it's worth all the hassle. Perhaps after reading this article, that wonder will cease.

sf01_056 Taking it old school here folks, especially with Vintage worlds coming up in a few days and ALL the character cards (sorry Hugo*** and Ibuki* not you two) are legal or play. I'm taking it back to the days of UFS being ran and operated by Sabertooth Games. Back when the STG staff made a tour of stops in several "brick and mortar" stores, including the one I work for now. I remember that I didn't have any cards at the time to make a deck but when I did want to make one, one of my fellow New York players asked me which character did I like from the Street Fighter of Soul Calibur series. I didn't have many options at the time but I chose one card in particular... Ryu (Type 2). Being that this was my first character card, I pretty much stuck with it for at least a year and a half. (Until I discovered Starter Deck Mai from Domination and R. Mika from Extreme Rivals... now that's my favorite character :) But more on that another day.)

What makes this card so good? Well let's take a look at it.

134What is it with me and cards that have abilities restricted to certain characters or symbols? Today we'll be covering Superhuman Strength, a card not unlike Inhuman Fortitude from the first Soul Calibur set, 'cause it's the thematical reprint of it. Except at the exchange of better stats, it's considerably far worse. At least it's a potential -3 to an attack, right? Click to read more as we take the time to analyse it further. Who knows, this intro might be extremely misleading on purpose? Nah, it couldn't be.

135We'll start off the working week with a card that, just like early monday mornings after a weekend bender with alcohol, UFS and perhaps a total of 16 hours in a tiny-ass car, likely pisses you off. This card is none other than what singlehandedly made absolutely no sense about King of Fighters 2006, the Addes Syndicate. What seems to be two very happy men (one of which redefines what "black skin" means, but probably not since he's an alien, and yes folks, I am not kidding) about to embrace each other may have, with the help of it's friends, turned more people away from UFS than Rare Cassandra frrom the first set. Since everyone and their mother has talked about this card already, covering it's multiple uses (HAHA!) is going to be difficult, yet read on if you want to know exactly why this card fetches about 55 clams per on your favorite place to buy cards (pick one, really, it doesn't matter).

078Ah, the attack that pretty much cemented my like and dislike of Gill as Street Fighter 3's endboss. Once it hits, it's generally game over in that game, and while it doesn't enjoy the same power in UFS, it does, however throw one hefty monkey wrench in aggro's game plan. Not only that, but even on offense, it's still a whole truckload of damage for a truckload of difficulty. Since it's a character only, we only have to consider the only two published versions of Gill, but it's quite powerful in both, and you'll see exactly how if you read this particular Card of the Day feature.
