Well I am new to this game and this is the deck I plan to play with it (need to get a few more cards for it). It would be great to get feedback and any comments/fixes are welcome.

Ukyo Deck – 64

Character: 4, Foundation: 28, Attack: 28, Action: 4

Character Resources: Fire, Life, Water

4 ...Ukyo...

4 Fluid Adaptation

4 Mission of Peace

4 Misdirection

4 The Sword is One Scary Beast

4 Iaido Sword Style

4 Deathly Ill

4 Impetuous

4 Concealed Sabre Snowfall Slash

4 Concealed Sabre Swallow Swipe

4 Concealed Shallow Swipe

4 Ghostly Dashing Slice

4 Strong Slash Attack

4 Swordless Sabre Snowfall Slash

4 Ukyo’s Short Slash Attack

4 Control the Flow

Basically I chose Ukyo because he is my favorite Samurai Shodown Character and the fact that his attacks are baddass. The one thing I notice is that Ukyo's support cards are all about allowing me to discard my water resource cards from my card and playing foundations that I can use to help pass my control checks so that I can play a ridiculous amount of attacks. I also like the fact that Ukyo has alot of Multiple attacks.

Please note that I am not planning on being a tournament player but I would still like to make this a decent deck.

So if any of you vets see fit to give this noob some guidance it would be greatly appreciated! ;)

Fun with Block 2: Evil Bishamon Print E-mail

I've posted a few different decks for the community deck list on this website for a while now. Most of my decks seem to have gotten decent reviews, although mostly I was posting them for fun. But only once before have I considered posting a deck that I was planning on making in the future. I've decided that I will go through with that now.

The arrival of Set 7 rejuvenated my interest in the game during what was a bit of a slump period for me. While I was never a big fan of Darkstalkers, the introduction of Darkstalkers characters into the mix still seemed very intriguing to me. Of course, people were immediately raving about Demitri, J. Talbain, and a couple of others as soon as the set came out due to their amazing abilities. One of my friends here in the area, Chris Kovaz, had a few articles written about his diabolical Promo Morrigan deck. And I thought Promo Rock was bad! At any rate, I constructed a fun Victor mill deck based around Order, which has been going well so far. But one character in the Darkstalkers series intrigued me from the moment I opened him up in a pack: Bishamon.

Why Bishamon? First of all because I like pondering how to make good, tournament-viable decks with characters that are not often heard of or talked about. I've only heard of one other Bishamon deck being played, personally, and unfortunately I haven't seen it yet. Secondly, I feel that with a careful build and a lot of planning, Bishamon could actually prove to be quite threatening. He has a very similar feel to playing Victor with a 5HS and a fairly high vitality at 33. Unlike Victor and his global effect abilities, however, Bishamon specifically targets your opponent and comes equipped with some really scary capabilities.

I have yet to play test or make true use of this build, but this is my preliminary build for a Bishamon deck. It is built primarily off of Evil, but it's constructed for a potential Death/Evil splash on relatively inactive turns.

Character
*Bishamon*

Attacks
4x Chain Throw (5/3 3M5 Throw Stun:2)
4x Gedan Kassobaki (5/3 2H3)
2x Hane Ha (5/2 3M6)
3x Scourge of Zeus (4/2 1H5 Throw +1L)

Actions
4x Absurd Strength (1/5 +1M)
4x Irresistible Force (2/4 +1M)

Foundations
4x Born to Hunt (2/5 Split:3)
3x Cheerful (1/6 +1L)
4x Contemplation (5/5)
4x Countless Days of Killing (3/4 Split:8)
3x Demon Eyes (3/5)
3x Fortune Teller (2/4)
4x Higher Calibur (2/5 +1M)
3x Overconfident (2/5 +2M)
4x Pieces of Eight (4/4 +2H)
4x Shinobi Tradition (2/5)
4x Won't Settle for Second Best (1/5 +1H)

4x Death/Evil Character Blocks

Total Cards: 65
Average Difficulty: 2.68
Average Control Check: 4.4
Block Percentage: 50.8%

The idea that spawned this deck was to come up with a sort of off-color mill strategy, supported by Bishamon's Form. Bishamon is themed around two different and effective concepts:

1) Mill your opponent for huge chunks at a time.
2) You want your opponent to play Enhances.

The deck's primary attack, interestingly enough, is Gedan Kassobaki. By self-mitigating its damage, you are able to mill cards from your opponent's deck; it's kind of like a poor man's Devil Reverse for milling. At 3 damage it's pretty weak, but fortunately Evil is supported by a lot of solid damage-pumping mechanisms. Unfortunately the greatest of these, Absurd Strength, is not playable on the deck's focus attack due to a printed damage just short of 4. This is where Irresistible Force and its foundation sidekick Overconfident come into play. Both of these cards are very effective due to Bishamon's hand size being so low. Irresistible Force is almost guaranteed to provide you with at least a +3 damage bonus and Overconfident secures a meaty +4. Once you're able to pump sufficient damage into Kassobaki, throw it all away to the attack's Enhance!

This seems like a very silly idea, but to a degree it can be used against your opponent in mind games. Self-mitigating all of the attack's damage isn't necessary if you're sure that your opponent doesn't have a high block in their hand or just can't block the attack. The self-mitigation ability is more of a security blanket of sorts: if you're worried that your opponent might waste all of your efforts pumping a 2-speed high attack by fully blocking it, make sure he knows you can still hurt him before he gets the opportunity to block. A few repetitions of Kassobaki mill will eventually start whittling away at your opponent's deck quickly, especially with an Overconfident or two in play.

Of course, the deck is fully capable of winning without Kassobaki or even the general mill strategy. Chain Throw and Scourge of Zeus are great throws for Evil that can be equally as well pumped damage-wise, additionally so by Absurd Strength. Both attacks also support the Kassobaki mill strategy. If you're willing to sacrifice milling one additional card with Kassobaki, you can leave the attack at 1 damage and at least have a chance of putting it into your momentum, in which case you can use Chain Throw to grab it. Nifty! Scourge of Zeus simply provides an additional means to pump damage into Kassobaki for further milling. Hane Ha is essentially the deck's cannon fodder attack; you shouldn't really care whether or not this attack is blocked, rather consider any successful hit you land with it a convenience. It does solid damage and further contributes to the mill strategy, even though it's a relatively easy mid-block at 3 speed. 2 copies exist in the deck primarily due to its control value of 2, but it can still be very useful if used well. Of course, any attack is useful in the deck if Irresistible Force makes it unblockable.

Countless Days of Killing is a particularly amazing card in this deck, as it plays off of both of Bishamon's themes on top of being an all-around great card. As a foundation you could consider this card, albeit very loosely, Psycho Focus on a stick. While the action side is very expensive to play, it holds great synergy with Bishamon's Enhance, which allows you to play it for free. You would have to be insane to argue with a potentially free enhance that mills your opponent for at least 5 cards and as many as 13! As if you didn't possess enough means to put a dent in your opponent's deck size, Contemplation makes matters worse, especially against decks that are thin on the attack side, such as for example other mill decks (namely Set 6 Rare Voldo).

Because most of the bare essentials in this deck run both Death and Evil, a few useful Death cards are splashed in. Cheerful is thrown in for the 6 control check, the solid low block, and its potentially annoying ability to mill a card and completely block an incoming attack. This is especially handy against those players still dealing with PRADS that make up for the loss of some of their dear 6 control check foundations by throwing in character blocks. The other Death-only card in the deck is Fortune Teller, which is an all-around powerful card that is especially handy in this deck. Use Fortune Teller to set up recursion of important cards to your hand using Demon Eyes; Born to Hunt can cover for what you might miss. If you're feeling really adventurous, you could use Fortune Teller to set up a mean deck attack with Countless Days of Killing. Your opponent may not be smiling so much when you stack a 6 on top of their deck.

The remaining foundations in the deck are just really solid Evil foundations that make life easier. Pieces of Eight allows your opponent to play their Enhances to trigger your effects and then promptly deny them the bonus of their Enhance. Shinobi Tradition ensures that you never fail a control check at a crucial moment. Won't Settle for Second Best very slightly contributes to the mill strategy and allows you to stall your opponent by making everything harder to play during their turn. And of course we can't forget about Higher Calibur; the only reason this card would ever not be helpful in the deck is because Bishamon's Form ability can only be triggered once per turn. Even so, it adequately supports the deck's overall strategy by readying crucial foundations. Your opponent may think twice before triggering too many responses. As an avid UFS player I must say that every deck conceivable that is capable of running Absurd Strength should run 4 copies of the card and no less due to its incredible usefulness in all forms.

This is merely a prototype build of the deck, but it seems effective. Less useful cards or cards with weaker than anticipated synergy could possibly be swapped out for Infiltrating, which is always useful. Other cards are up to debate. Some people may prefer to use cards like Megalomania, Power Stabilization Glove, or False Pretenses for defensive purposes. As to which of these is the best for this deck, it's hard to say. The optimal deck size for this deck is also up to debate.

**Maxi**'s Good Aggro Deck Print E-mail

Well, I know Good is about the most maligned symbol in UFS, but with Set 7 (specifically Darkstalkers) adding so much good material for Good, my OK **Maxi** has been terrorizing my fellow gamers as of late. Have a look and tell me what you think:

NOTE: I haven't been playing UFS for that long, so you won't see any cards from, say, SF01 or anything like that, so I may not have the best cards available in all of UFS.

Main Symbol: Good

Starting Character:

**Maxi** (6 HS 27 Vitality)

Characters (5):

2 *Maxi* (5 HS 24 Vitality)
3 **Maxi** (6 HS 27 Vitality)

Actions (4):

4 Flashy Display (0/3 +2M Split Card)

Assets (3):

3 Soryuju (4/3 +2M)

Attacks (22):

3 Steel Dragon (3/2 4H2 +1M)
4 Illusion Kick (4/2 3L3 +1H Breaker:1)
3 Rolling Buckler (4/2 4L3 +3H Powerful:2)
2 Sand Splash (4/3 4M3 +2M Stun:1)
4 Mark of the Beast (5/3 4M4 +2M)
4 Paguna Paguna (5/3 4L4 +1H)
2 Fury (6/2 4M3 +3M Multiple:2)

Foundations (26):

4 Cheerful (1/6 +1L)
4 Empire's Ruin (1/5 +2M)
2 Headstrong (1/5 +2L)
4 Nothing to Lose (1/5)
4 Pirate from Ryukyu (2/5)
4 Shissen Karihadi (2/6)
4 Tendon Strength (3/4 +3L)

Side Deck (15):

3 Mark of the Dragon (4/2 5M3)
4 Drifting Moon (5/3 3M4 +1L)
4 Roam the World (2/4)
4 Spiritual Center (2/5 +2H)

Comments:

I don't know the maximum Side Deck size for UFS (excuse my ignorance) so I went with 15, please tell me if it's different. The deck strategy is basically drop 3 or 4 foundations on the first turn (hopefully at least 1 Pirate from Ryukyu) and then ATTACK, ATTACK, and ATTACK some more! A lot of the attacks here can lower other attacks' difficulty, so if you hit once, you're probably dropping your hand on his head. Honestly, I like **Maxi** and I would like him to see some tournament play. So if you want to play an oddball deck at the next UFS tournament, try it out!

I finally decided to sit down and decklist this thing out. I want him to run like the old akuma decks used to. And besides that, I'm a fan anyway. So I just wanted to know what kind of chance I have with this and what I'm forgetting. I also looked at the deck when I was finished and realized that it had an absurd amount of blocks!

Starting Character- ..K'.. (that can be debated)

Assets- 3 Power Stabilization Glove
3 Mamahaha

Attacks- 4 Crimson Starlord
4 The Trigger
1 Moonbeam Slicer
3 Grim Roundhouse
4 Jackknife Kick
4 Lilitu's Needle

Characters- 4 .K'.

Foundations- 4 Cold And Haughty
4 Mysterious Past
4 Pure Violence
4 Pieces Of Eight
4 Brethren Of The Coast
4 The Merchant's Message
4 Meaning In Mastery
4 Modified Shadow Style Of Yagyu
4 Man Enough

The main point of the deck is to wait and watch your opponent fail check after check for attacks, then to set up on your turn when they're tapped out for a killshot. And because of Man Enough, I can pretty much block at least 2-3 times in a row with the same card! Notice how only about 8 cards in this deck aren't blocks I thought that was sick!

As the title eludes to, this deck is completely Block-2 legal up to next November, when unfortunately for me, my favorite Greek Goddess is shut down by the MAN.

*tear*

Anyway, this is a take on the classic **Sophitia** format...but with a quick, little twist.

Characters
1x 6/6 **Sophitia**
1x 6/6 **Luise**
1x 6/6 **Nakoruru**
1x 6/6 **Xianghua**

Attacks – 16X
4x 3/3 Kunai (2H3, Ranged, +3L)
4x 4/3 Widow Maker (3M3, Throw, +2M)
3x 5/3 Holy Sweeper (4M6, Weapon, +3M)
3x 5/2 Cagemaster (3M4 Multiple : 2, Weapon, +4H)
2x 4/2 Ken’s Shinden Kakato Otoshi (3M6 Punch)

Foundations
4x 2/6 Battle Disk System (SNK01)
4x 3/5 Armored Defense (+2L) (SCBP)
4x 3/4 Deceptive Look (SC03)
4x 2/5 False Pretenses (+4M) (SC05)
4x 4/5 Gather The Soul (SC04)
4x 2(3)/3 Intuition (Split Attack 2L3 +1M) (SNK01)
4x 2/5 No Weakness (DS01)
4x 2/5 Schmettering Fighting Performance Arts (+3L) (SNK02)
4x 2/5 Shinobi Tradition (SF05)
4x 1(2)/5 Unrequited Love (Split Action +3M) (SNK02)

Actions
4x 2/4 Temportal Ascension (SC05)

You'll notice that there's a fair amount of speed boosting in this deck. You'll also notice that it's a [Life] deck.

You'll also notice that this is a deck. But there are a few of you out there that would not notice this, so just a heads up.

The main goal of the deck is to set up for either Cagemaster's last Multiple copy or Ken's Shinden Kakato Otoshi. The first bit, of course, is the classic Sophitia maneuver:

Sophitia's E+Armored Defense's F=Happy Fun Times for all (except the opponent)

Kill turn goes something like this:
Widow Maker (peek at their blocks) into Kunai into Kunai E the Widow Maker into either...

  • Holy Sweeper into Ken's Shinden with massive speed pumps + Powerful:2 + Deceptive Look + Sophitia's E
  • ...or Cagemaster + Multiple:2 + Sophitia's E on all of them + speed pumps on last one + Deceptive Look

Gather The Soul can be used on either to keep Sophitia's ability alive, and for pesky Absurd Strength.

False Pretences keeps me alive in a pinch, and No Weakness is absurd if I have enough momentum.

Battle Disk is amazing, too. 6 checks FTW!

Intuition and Temporal are there in case I need to draw like mad (on non-Armored turns, of course), and as all of my kill cards have blocks, Intuition rules.

Sideboard characters are mostly for taste.Well, that's it. It's a decent deck. Now, I actually need to BUILD it. :-D
