Monopoly With day two of the Gulf Coast Championships just a few hours away, I was all alone with half a deck. Everyone else had gone to bed, satisfied with what they had for the day to come.  Despite the fact that everyone in our group was satisfied with their Team top 8 and talked about simply enjoying themselves for day 2, they were playing with power I couldn't match. Something needed to be done.  This was it, that last leg of the trip of the particular UFS triathalon the Florida players had been subjected to in January. There was no way I was going to choke now. This is the final part of the UFS epic. This is how it all went down.

SF04_139_144Interview

Susan Whittaker
Keyor, Michigan

Susan was someone I didn't know or speak to at all on the forums until I started the interviews, so I was looking forward to interviewing a complete stranger. Well once the interview started, I learned she was in Andrew Olexa's (Worlds 2007 Champion) playgroup. So of course I had to ask off topic questions about playing with Andrew every week since I was unable to meet him at Worlds last year.  But I think if I had to think of a male counter part player for her it would have to be my friend Kristian Streeter.  The sole reason for this is that she calls XNDL E: even if there isn't another one in her hand, just like my buddy Kristian.

The New Standard Format

The release of a new set often leaves us with more questions than answers. Set 8 has given us many new tools to work with, but it really isn't possible to talk about set 8 without talking about Evil. What was once a dominant symbol in UFS is now so far above any of its competitors you would need a very good reason to play any other symbol. However, we can't all play Evil can we? After all, there are still some very good characters without the dreaded pitchfork on them. This is a guide to those who want to play Evil, and are lost in the sea of options it provides, and for those who want to play everything else for whatever reason. Set aside some time, because we're going in deep.
