Makes his foundation a LOT more interesting..., Tuesday, 06 February 2007

At first, when you see the foundation 00101 (etc.), you wonder... how exactly should I play my opponent's best attack from their discard pile if it doesn't share a resource with me? Well, here's the answer. Play this card and 00101 away.

Although it's slightly situational, I find it's worth playing if not for the mid +0 block.

Not only are your multiples FREE, but if you do end up removing them from the game (if you use her enhancement and fail to do damage), Side Hold (shares Good) will get those Multiple attacks back from the RFG pile! It's like a one-shot mega-Mystic.

Yes, they will definitely have to errata this card.

Wind and Chaos gain yet another way to make attacks unblockable!

At 1 difficulty (ridiculously low for anything that makes attacks harder to block as it is), you can pretty much punish your opponent for doing a single-resource deck.

Which almost everyone makes.

So unless you randomly pack some off-resource character blocks, for the price of a commit, you can make any attack unblockable.

It will not surprise me if people call foul shortly after release.

Artwork: I've noticed how Cammy keeps getting pwned in the art... Shun Goku Satsu then this one? What's up with that? Regardless, the art looks nice. 5/5

Effects: Ridiculously useful effect. For the ridiculously small cost of a commit. 5/5

Usefullness: It's a 1 difficulty, spammable foundation. And it's got a nice 4 CC. Perfect for a quick way to gain momentum. 5/5

...both enhancements on the Special Forces Training split card (foundation side).

You add two cards to your momentum, so Special Forces can add +2 to any attack, and add 3 to your opponent's momentum so any attack can get a free -3 damage. We will DEFINITELY see a use for Exhaust the Opposition now. It's called Charlie.

Incredibly, it's happened. They have made me want to play Charlie.

Artwork: Looks awesome. 5
Effect: By itself, it's a Power Up for you. Used with Special Forces Training... 5
Usefulness: You're giving your opponent three momentum, but you get two momentum as well. Multiples are nice. 5

Leetspeak aside, I have to say I'm worried about this card.

Not that I need to say that it has Wind, much like any Vega, and much like Rolling Isuna Drop, and much like Material Advantage, and much like To The Bone.

OH YEAH, also the fact that you can, indeed, play it as an attack to discard your opponent's hand while the Rolling Izunas wait impatiently in your momentum.

STG must have some card up their sleeve, or they might errata/ban this before it even sees the light of day. A shame, really, seeing how it's a nice Chalie card.

...and other times that's the only thing they look at. It's not a matter of whether a character may play this. Let's think of, say, Akuma.

Not the promo one, the other one.

Akuma will commit to make any control check +2. Add that to the fat that he can play Psycho Power and there you have it. He could play this easily at the cost of committing himself, using Psycho Power and maybe one other foundation.

What's good about this is that since all blocked or unblocked attacks go to momentum, you can do some more attacks, and this will recharge your spent momentum from Psycho Power.

Granted, not everyone will make use of this card, but its high difficulty just ensures that not every deck will take full advantage of this card. Hanzo and anyone with Fu-Ma Trainings will have a field day.

Artwork 5/5 (Dan getting beat up? Where do I sign?)
Effects 5/5 (The effect itself is a great deal.)
Usefullness 3/5 (Not every deck can run it, but if it has control modifiers, there's no reason not to)

I can see Sagat abusing this., Friday, 10 November 2006

Not regular **Sagat or *Sagat either, I'm talking about ***Sagat. Commit him, and any time you commit a foundation you may have it count as two foundations.

Hence, you can get Army Training's MASSIVE +5 speed boost at the simple cost of... one foundation. That is, if you committed Sagat*** at the beginning of the turn. Then again, if you did commit him, and you have more than one Army Trainings out, your opponent will see stars.

For all other decks, it seems pretty useful. If you have plenty of cheap foundations in the deck, you can run 4 of these no problem.

Order has some cheap foundations in SF Set 2 (like Megalomania's 1/5) And it's not like Life doesn't have cheap foundations as it is (ahem, Loving Devotion). Wind has plenty of cheap ones too, so the usefulness of the card really chines due to its resources. 5/5

The artwork is nice. 5/5. Then again, most of my cards aren't in their decks for the artwork. Except Really Big Word... which by the way, shares Order and Wind with Army Training... and shares Wind with Sagat... so... yeah, have a nice 10+ damage 6 speed attack... The effect makes any attack a pain in the butt to block. 5/5.

I wouldn't mind paying the 7 difficulty for a POWERFUL 4 ability... the Desperation 5 makes it even sweeter... not to mention that most (if not all) the 7 difficulty have a 2 control, but this one has a 3.

You know what really saddens me (in a good way)? Is that he can use Dirty Pool by committing two foundations (one for the card effect, one for *Terry*'s) and that's it. It's not like he, having Chaos, will run out of momentum easily. I'm sure he would rather play the Powerful ability (+4 damage per momentum!?) Looks like an awful lot of fun.

As for the effect, again, nice hand control. Sir Quacks A Lot is Terry's best friend.

I could see a way to get almost total hand control. Sir Quacks A Lot or Power Up can fill up your momentum with cards from the top of your deck, and you can use Terry's E with any attack to pick which cards you want in your hand.

His hand size may be a mere average of 6, but with the chance of getting his choice of cards when he wants them just adds to the sweetness. It couldn't be nicer.

Also his second ability keeps you from having too much momentum and works as a card-less reversal of sorts (sure, you will be forced to take half damage rounded up anyways, but there are ways around that, like Oneupsmanship which he can play).

The artwork is excellent. I want this card.

Super Deadly Ninja Bees is the literal (yes, literal) translation of her trademark Desperation move, Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi.

Very nice attack (although I still don't know what requirements there are to play this at 4 diff... don't know what Desperation keyword means yet).

I am definitely looking forward to playing this attack, considering that of course, 1) you could play it at 4 difficulty and 2) Multiple:1 and 3) it shares wind AND life with the *Mai*, which will make it very difficult to block, plus if you discard one momentum, you could add even more speed! The ninja bees strike fastly!

Artwork is nice. I especially like the fact that Alba is the one getting torched.
